alliantgroup’s Kathy Petronchak Reappointed to AICPA Tax Executive Committee

HOUSTON, Sept. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — alliantgroup is proud to announce the reappointment of Kathy Petronchak, the firm’s Director of IRS Practice & Procedure, to the American Institute of CPAs Tax Executive Committee for 2016. Currently a member of the firm’s alliantNational office in Washington D.C., Petronchak has a combined 35 years of experience in directing IRS compliance activities and providing tax controversy services. In her current role with alliantNational, the former IRS Commissioner of the Small Business/Self-Employed Division has been helping both taxpayers and practitioners gain a greater understanding of IRS procedures, compliance standards and the best solutions available for taxpayers involved in disputes with the IRS.

Serving as a member of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee, Petronchak will be leveraging her experience to provide perspective on important issues facing AICPA members each day. As an authoritative body, the AICPA’s Tax Executive Committee approves all policy recommendations for the organization’s working groups and authorizes all AICPA statements on taxation. The TEC’s additional roles include offering their input on new tax legislation and providing their thoughts on how such policy proposals fit with the strategic initiatives of AICPA.

“I am honored to once again be serving as a volunteer for such a vital committee of AICPA,” said Petronchak. “It is my goal to ensure that the committee continues to provide a voice for our members in all of their tax endeavors.”

During a career that has spanned both the public and private sectors, Petronchak has worked with a countless number of businesses in examinations from the government’s perspective and in the position of audit defense for taxpayers. In her 29 years with the IRS, she has held a number of roles within the Service, including her time as IRS Commissioner of SB/SE from 2006-2008, a role in which she worked directly with small and mid-sized businesses and practitioners on compliance with IRS standards. Petronchak has also served as chair of the AICPA IRS Practice and Procedures Committee from 2011-2012 and is a speaker at tax controversy events.

“As someone who has worked directly with Kathy over the years and witnessed her dedication firsthand, there is no doubt that AICPA has made a fantastic choice for its committee,” said Steven Miller, former IRS Acting Commissioner and alliantgroup National Director of Tax. “I look forward to seeing her contributions to both AICPA and alliantNatonal in the coming year.”

A division of alliantgroup, alliantNational assists CPAs and U.S. businesses alike in navigating difficult tax matters, offering both representation and support while working with IRS and state tax officials. Comprised of a world class team of former IRS executives, congressional staffers, technical experts and experienced litigators, alliantNational provides support in a number of specialized areas, including audit and credit defense, captive insurance, controversy services, domestic and international tax planning and tax exempt services. Led by the experience of former IRS executives Steven Miller, Mark W.
